Greetings Beloved Family Member,

The California Family Reunion Committee wishes you and all our loved ones good health and happiness!  As we approach this year’s family reunion to be held in July, the Committee is very busy finalizing the plans and anxiously awaits our whole family to be together once again for the TENTH! Madrid Family Reunion!  This is an exciting event as our family has gathered and celebrated our reunions over the last 20-years!  We have many fun activities, prizes and good food to be enjoyed by all.  PLEASE RSVP BY JULY 8TH. Friday, July 29, 2011, 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.Carpinteria Veteran’s Memorial Building – 941 Walnut Ave, Carpinteria, CA 93013 (next to the fire station) – “Meet and Greet” enjoy finger foods and family bonding!  You don’t want to miss this event!  A special evening is planned with videos and pictures from previous reunions and a brief history of the Madrid family.  Share and learn about all the eight branches! 
Saturday, July 30, 2011, 10:00 a.m. – dusk CARPINTERIA BEACH at Ramada #9 (closest to Linden Ave) – The day will begin with a Welcoming! Speech and passing out Madrid Family Reunion T-shirts that you ordered.  Please order your T-shirt in advance.  T-Shirt purchase information is listed below. •	10:00 – 12:00:  WELCOME TO THE TENTH MADRID FAMILY REUNION!  T-shirts will be passed out.  

Saturday (cont.)
•	12:00 – 1:00:  Lunch –  Sub-sandwiches and all the fix’ns.  During lunch we will do the RAFFLE.  This will give everyone an opportunity to enjoy their prizes!  We have something for everyone.
•	1:00 – 3:00:  Sand Castle Contest.  Each family group will have an opportunity to express their creativity in the sand.  Bring your homemade flag to post at your sand castle that will represent your team/family group.  The flag design should represent your branch of the family.  A written description of the design can accompany the flag.  I know several families have already come up with “ideas” for their group’s castle and flag design!  Sand Castle designs will be judged for creativity, theme and best use of area and “natural” supplies & decorations from the beach.  The following materials will be provided:  regular round point shovels and 5-gal plastic buckets.  
•	3:00 – 4:30:  Tug-a-War, 3-legged race
•	4:30 – 6:00:  Stroll around and enjoy the Pacific Ocean, visit, volleyball, fly kites…..
•	6:00 – 7:00:  BBQ DINNER – Oak smoked BBQ Chicken & Pork Ribs, cowboy beans, potato and green salad, rolls with butter, drinks
•	7:00 – 8:00:  Talent Show.  Show your talent!  Show us what you are best at!  Sing, relate a poem you wrote, play an instrument, dance … 
Sunday, July 31, 2010, 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. 8:30A.M. Meet at Viola Fields (softball field) for Worship Services @ 9 followed by the traditional softball game!  The softball field is within 2 miles of the beach.  Directions are posted on website.  After the game, we will all return to the Ramada for lunch!  Events planned are as follows:
•	8:30 - Continental breakfast – Viola Fields:  coffee, juice, pastries, yogurt, fruit ……..
•	9:00 – 9:30:  Worship Services - Viola Fields:  Morning service will take place overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean!
•	10:00 – 11:30 SOFTBALL GAME!  Viola Fields:  Don’t forget your gloves and your cameras!   Our goal is FUN and “No Injuries”.   Rules:  No Wining, No crying, No problem!
•	12:00 – 1:30 LUNCH return to the Ramada at Carpinteria Beach:  taco cart, rice, beans, chips, salsa, drinks!
•	1; 30 – 2:30 Family Pictures.  Don’t forget your cameras!	
•	2:30 – 3:30 An AUCTION of very special handcrafted, one-of-a-kind mementos to benefit the next reunion.  
•	3:30 – 5:30 Closing

We would appreciate any old photos as far back as you can provide that trace our family roots along with a description of who is in the photo.
